The PGA Tour made its return to the great state of South Carolina this past weekend. Coming into the week, Dustin Johnson was hoping to rekindle some of the magic from his visit to Harbour Town last April. Harbour Town Golf Links would be a different test for the best golfers in the world as the tournament was rescheduled to June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the first two rounds, Johnson was paired with Hideki Matsuyama and Gary Woodland.
Dustin got off to a fast start on Thursday afternoon birding his second hole of the day and following up his only bogey on the front with an eagle on the fifth. DJ would add another birdie on the 7th to make the turn in 33. Three birdies and a double bogey on the back nine led DJ to a first round 68. Starting on the back nine Friday morning, Johnson got off to a solid start making the turn in two-under, moving him to five-under for the week. Dustin got himself within striking distance after a back nine 33 led to a second round 68. Dustin was eight-under for the tournament, four back of the lead heading into the weekend.
Dustin Johnson was paired up with Canadian Mackenzie Hughes on Saturday as they both looked to make a run. He made the turn in two-under (ten-under total) and rebounded from an early bogey on the back nine. Johnson birdied three of his last four holes on Saturday to shoot a third round 67. Heading into the final round he was sitting four back of leader Tyrrell Hatton.
An up and down start to Sunday saw Johnson make the turn in one-under. On the back nine, Johnson made two birdies coming in to shoot a final round 68. This put Johnson at fifteen-under for the week and in tie for seventeenth.
Next on the schedule for Dustin Johnson, the Travelers Championship.
